CARD CREATING TUESDAY

i'm definately into making christmas cards.  even though i make them all year round, new innovative tools and ideas pop-up around this time of year.  this last weekend i went to a scrapbook convention near me, and as usual am blown away with such 'new stuff' out there.  i purchased this (and a couple others) sweet die from a vendor.  the website (if you're interested) is:  www.cheerylynndesigns.com

see the 'MADE IN USA'? i like that!

using my cuttlebug, i put a shim, then a template, the same size as the mat i'll be using on the front of my card. this is so i can set the die in the center and still use the paper from which i made the cut.

i then line up the mat i will be using and make the cut.

and the cut....

pickin and grinnin...oh, and back to using the mat from which i made my cut,

after all the 'pickins' are out...

this is where i layered my top mat onto the mat from which the cut was made.

once i get to this pt. (i usually have more), i use a spray adhesive because the cut is so delicate.  i do this in my garbage can using scraps to lay them on.  this stuff is sticky, so i change out my scraps so the next cuts don't get that 'sticky' on them when i lay them out to spray.

now i guess, if you like the looks, you could stop here.  but me, well, i like more...more is never enough for me.  but, it 'is' pretty just like this!

so i cut more.  only different colors....always did like puzzles!

this is where i get to sit and play....it really doesn't take that long, but you sure better keep them pcs together, cause it wouldn't take much to lose any of them.  but i find it relaxing to put the pcs together and i found using the zig squeeze and roll fine ball point the perfect adhesive to get in the small spots.  don't forget, you'll need tweezers also to pick up the small pcs.

so with a little, ok, mabye more than a little patience, some labor of love, you'll end up with this...
i personally love making these.  i find it relaxing and most of all, rewarding.

that's it for this tuesday.  i hope you enjoyed my 'lengthy' tutorial.  i hope you give it a try.  if you don't like it, hey, send me your die, i'll make good use of it.

(((hugs)))
